USS Dumbarton

Welcome to the USS Dumbarton!

USS Dumbarton Ambassador class star ship laid down in 2330; the second star ship to be named Dumbarton. Her predecessor; a Miranda class star ship, designed for boarder petrol along the Klingon neutral zone. decommissioned in 2305.

After a lifetime of service the Dumbarton sits quietly in her bay. Silently waiting for a new master. or her fate. She had been all but forgotten in the darken corner. how lonely she had become. it had been 5 years since the lights illuminated her frame and the low hum of her engines scuttled through the beams.

In 2375 the Dumbarton took part in the final phase and battle of the Dominion War; the battle for Cardassia, during this engagement the bridge section was hit and completely destroyed, leaving all of her command crew deceased and the vessel limp in space, her remaining crew fleeing in the life pods, expecting an imminent warp core breach. Thankfully nothing happened and the Dumbarton was rescued and taken under tow back to the Fleet Yards.

After a repairs and a new bridge module; the Dumbarton took to the stars once more. Assigned to patrol the Breen boarder and protect the out rim of the Federation.

15 years later and another life time; the Dumbarton returned to dock for the final time; it would appear.

Arnhem had returned from his self imposed exile; on the outward appearance, he was a new man, changed once more by his experiences in the Delta Quadrant. Inwardly, perhaps he was the same man who had left.

he had returned to the only thing he had known for more than a Century, Earth and Starfleet. he had been assigned the elderly lady. One Warrior for another. But could they change; could the two help each other heal and become something better once more.
Only time would tell. Her return to service would now be in so called peacetime and her mandate; Exploration.

The Dumbarton would be reassigned to the 4th Fleet. And now had 4 weeks to source a new command crew. Admiral Stone had suggested a few names and strongly inclined him to look at newer upcoming officers. those waiting for a senior position or those wanting long term exploration.

Starfleet had no shortage of crew; but they did have a shortage of senior command officers willing to show patience and help those when in need.

Although Arnhem really had no choice; and for that he was happy. for he may have faulted given another option. Now he would be happy to help guide the new generation into the future.

The Dumbarton is to make her way out under the command of Captain Arnhem and a somewhat less experienced crew with a quick 4 week shakedown cruise out beyond the Tyhon expanse to help ease them all back into every day routines, crew rotations and scientific exploration. Work out any kinks in the system and improve upon.

Following her initial shakedown the Dumbarton was to be assigned to the newly formed Task Force 25 as a deep space exploratory vessel, receiving mission updates from the vast knowledge and starbase board database of the Reliquary
